Tart Tranquality

I love the scents that candles can bring into a room.  To me, the smell lingers longer than the fragrances from air freshener spray cans (although those are still helpful for instant gratification from bad smells).  However, sometimes people can be limited to using other methods of freshening their homes.  They may not be able to burn candles because:
  • They live in a place that may prohibit the burning of candles like a university dorm room
  • Great smelling candles may be too costly
  • Burning candles may be dangerous due to pets or children who might accidentally knock them over and start a house fire
If you fall into any of these categories then I have a interesting tip for you.  I like to use a candle warmer.

They are great for me because I still get the powerful scent from a candle but I do not have to "babysit" the fire.  Plus, I can get the same great smells that I like for a fraction of the cost.  All you will need is:
  • A candle warmer
  • A glass jar
  • Enough tarts to fit into your glass jar (Yankee Candle sells tarts around $1, especially when they are having sales.)
I got a clean glass jar (that once had pickles in them) and put six tarts in there.  Then, I put the jar onto the candle warmer and my room smelled of delicious cookies.

If just one of these tarts can work for up to 8 hours, imagine what six of them can do!

I realized that after all the tarts melted down I could possibly fit more tarts in the jar.

This method would also be good if you like to mix scents together.  When you want a new scent in the jar, simply put the jar in the freezer for twenty minutes.  After you take the jar out, crack the wax in half with an object like a butter knife or a screwdriver and the wax will come out.  If the jar you use has a straight opening and not a narrow one like mine, the wax should slide right out without having to crack the wax.

I really have to try some new scents soon.  For the longest time I've been using fruity scents.  I need a break from the fruity aromas and the only thing I had different around the house were the Christmas cookie tarts...in February, lol!   I would like to try some floral and clean scents soon.

Have fun making your home smell good!
