Updated Hair Regimen

The first hair regimen I posted on this blog (under my old name) was when I was relaxing my hair.  So, I am overdue in sharing my hair regimen now that I stopped using the Gentletreatment.  This regimen is not permanent as I like to try different products and experiment. However, I will share with you all what I am trying right now and how I am using it.

The Products

Moisturizing Shampoo: Creme of Nature Argan Oil Moisture & Shine Shampoo
Conditioner: Aussie Moist
Leave-in Conditioner: Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream (when I wear my hair in it's natural state) and Organics by Africa's Best Olive Oil Leave-in Conditioner (when I flat iron my hair)
Clarifying Shampoo: Alberto VO5 Tea Therapy Clarifying Shampoo
Protein Treatment: Motions CPR Protein Reconstructor
Deep Conditioner: Queen Helene Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream
Heat Protectant: CHI Silk Infusion
Gel: Kinky-Curly Original Curling Custard
Moisturizers: Water (sometimes I add glycerin to the water) or Organic Root Stimulator Carrot Oil
Oils: Extra Virgin Olive Oil (the kind you cook with from the grocery store)

The Regimen

My regimen is slightly different for when I want to wear my hair in it's natural state (and how I want to style it in it's natural state) and when I flat iron my hair straight.  However, there are more similarities than differences in regards to using the products. Whether I am coily or straight, I TRY to use a moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, and leave-in conditioner every week.  If I can stretch my press into a second week I don't wet my hair. I only clip my ends when I feel they need to be trimmed, not according to some timeline.

Natural State
Every day: I moisturize my hair with either water or the ORS Carrot Oil and seal in the moisture with the Extra Virgin Olive Oil.  Sometimes, I'll just sleep with only my satin pillowcase.  Other times I will tie it up with a scarf and sleep with the satin pillowcase.
Every two to three days if wearing a wash and go: I will co-wash my hair with the Aussie Moist.  Then I will lightly put some of the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioner and the Kinky-Curly Curling Custard.
Weekly: I will shampoo with the Creme of Nature with warm water, condition my hair with cool water, then I will deep condition my hair for maybe 30 minutes or more with a heat cap--depending how distracted I am by the book I'm reading or program I'm watching.  Then, I'll wash that out with cool water.  I then apply my leave-in and style.  At this point, if I'm doing a twist out I will just detangle my hair and twist it all up.  If I'm doing a wash and go, I'll apply the Kinky-Curly Curling Custard.  Sometimes I'll let it air dry.  If I don't want to wait, I'll use a blow dryer (either with a diffuser or concentrator).
Every two months (or when I feel like I have too much product in my hair): I will follow the weekly routine with one change.  Instead of using the moisturizing shampoo, I will use the clarifying shampoo instead.

Straight State
Every day: I will wrap my hair or put rollers in my hair to maintain the style.  This keeps me from having to use heat in my hair everyday.

Every other day: I will lightly moisturize my hair with the ORS Carrot Oil and seal with the Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Every week or when I feel that it's time to re-flat iron my hair: I pretty much follow the steps I take for the Natural State weekly routine expect for the these few changes...Instead of using the Cantu leave-in, I'll use the Organics leave-in.  Then, I will put the CHI Silk Infusion in my hair.  I will blow dry my hair with the comb attachment.  Then, I will flat iron and style my hair.
When I feel it's necessary on wash days after wearing it straight: I will use the Motions CPR Protein Treatment before I use the Aussie Moist.

Again, this regimen is not set in stone and sometimes I will switch up the products I use.  These just happened to be the products I'm using right now.  I hope sharing my updated hair regimen has been helpful to someone and I hope you are keeping your hair healthy.

Yours truly,

Coily
