One day, I was at Ulta and I found the display for the new Maybelline 24 Hr Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadows. When I went there, they were buy one get one half off. The display only had three colors left. Out of those three, I purchased Tenacious Teal and Pomegranate Punk.
I thought that this product could potentially make a good eyeshadow base. When I swatched them, the color payoff was strong for the Pomegranate Punk. I did have to layer more to get the same effect with the Tenacious Teal. However, they are nice enough to wear without putting powdered eyeshadow on top. Both colors have glittery shimmers in them.
I haven't used the Pomegranate Punk with a make up look yet. However, if you check out my last entry in the Coloring Book, you will see a look I put together using the Tenacious Teal. I used it as a base. Also, I applied some Too Faced Shadow Insurance on the right eye only because I wanted to do an experiment. This product claimed to be 24 hours. I wanted to put it to the test. However, I have oily/combination skin so I used a primer on one eye just to see if my results would be different versus my left eye with no primer.
I know you should not sleep in make up. However, for the sake of this experiment, I actually kept my eye makeup on for twenty-four hours. I didn't just use the Maybelline alone (meaning no other eyeshadows, gel liner, and mascara) simply because that would be an unrealistic way of using the product for me. If I'm doing my eye make up and I'm putting a noticeable color on my lids, I'm going to wear liner and mascara.
I began the experiment around 5 PM. I was going strong a few hours into the test. However, as time rolled along my oily skin crashed the party. At first I started to see creasing on both lids. The lid without the primer looked worse than the lid with it. It was at this point where I felt it was unacceptable and under normal circumstances wash it off my face. However, this was an experiment so I had to keep it on. I sort of got busy around 5 PM the next day. So by 6 PM I was looking a hot mess. I could not wait to wash the make up off. This product is definitely not a twenty-four hour lasting product. I did video of everything and you can see that review on YouTube by clicking here.
So, would I recommend this product to someone if they wanted to wear it for a few hours? Yes! I like these a lot and plan on purchasing more colors. I just highly recommend using a primer under it and not trying to wear it for twenty-four hours.
Yours truly,
Coily
P.S. I have never tried MAC paint pots so I have no idea how these compare. If you have tried the MAC paint pots, do you recommend them and if so what colors should I check out?
