Nails: I Went To the Pricy Mall and I Liked It

All the Sephora stores "near" me are a good distance.  Saturday, I just happened to be in the neighborhood of one and I took advantage of being in the area. It might be a good thing I don't live fifteen minutes or less near a Sephora.  Remember this post I previously wrote, Super Expensive Stuff I'd Be Scared To Purchase...well, I must say they have trained their sales associates well.  Ha! Ha! Ha!

When I walked into the store a sales associate was ready and excited to greet me.  I told her that I wanted some lengthening mascara.  She introduced me to Givenchy Phenomen'Eyes Waterproof mascara.  When she pulled out the wand, I told her it reminded me of L'oreal's Telescopic Explosion's wand.  She told me that L'oreal got the idea for the wand from Givenchy and copied it as much as they could without infringing on Givenchy's patent.  However, there was nothing like the real thing.  At first, I was thinking, "Yeah, whatever.  It's made similar.  It's going to do the same thing."  I was WRONG, WRONGER, AND WRONGEST! LOL! I already was wearing the L'oreal.  However, the sales associate wanted to make me a believer in high end makeup.  So, she got a clean wand and put it on one eye over the L'oreal so I could see the difference.  There was no argument out of me after that.  I was already impressed with how my lashes stood out with the L'oreal.  However, I literally looked like I was wearing falsies with the Givenchy.  The difference was night and day.  No mascara has ever made my lashes look so long and pretty.  I liked it so much I had her do my other eye.

I was ready to purchase.  I asked her how much it costed.  She said thirty dollars.  $30 for some mascara! Had she gone mad?! I told her that $30 was too much for something you should throw away in three months.  She told me that it was cool to keep the Givenchy for six months.  Well...I guess that makes it a little better.  I mean...it IS the best mascara I've ever tried.  She asked if was ready to purchase it.  Did I?

No.  I do plan to get it one day but Saturday was not the day.  I will stick with my L'oreal for the moment.  My plan now is to continue to use the L'Oreal for every day wear.  I will purchase the Givenchy when I want to spurge and treat myself to something nice or a very special occasion.

However, I could not bring myself to leave Sephora empty handed.  So, I purchased some $16 dollar nail polish.  That is the most I have EVER paid for some nail polish! However, this isn't ordinary nail polish.  If you looked at my hands you can tell this isn't your average polly.  I did look in Walmart for a cheaper version of this sort of polish and they didn't have it.  So, I splurged and bought the brand name kind.

Nails, Inc. London has what they call Magnetic Polish.  You polish two coats on your nails and then you hold a magnet over your nails for a few seconds.  I noticed, the longer you hold the magnet over the nails, the deeper the design will be.  I purchased the Trafalgar Square color and I love it!

These pictures are from my Instagram account (same screen name).  The magnet makes the polish do a wavy design.  No nail has the exact same design.  I hope it's safe to cook wearing this stuff but I just had to try it.  Now this is nail polish that I can spend big bucks on and not feel silly for it.

Also, the mall I was at had a Lush store.  I had never been to Lush.  I purchased a Butterball Bath Bomb.  I hope I will like it.  The mall also had an Apple store.  I was excited because malls "near" me don't have Apple stores.  People were everywhere! There were tons of employees ready to help.  My sales associate taught me the ways of Apple.  Ha, ha! When I save up the money I think I will make the switch from Windows to Apple.  He told me about Aperture but I'm sorta of salty I cannot have the GIMP.  I might try to have both an Apple and a PC so I can enjoy the benefits of both (when I can afford to).

I also went to other super expensive stores to daydream like Gucci and Louis Vuttion.  One day...one day...just not that Saturday I was there.  I enjoyed my day at the "expensive store" mall.   I will have go back one day.  Until then, back to JC Penney, Sears, and Kohl's...and there's nothing wrong with that either! Even if I was rich and could afford everything in the expensive mall I still would shop at the average mall.  I can't resist a good deal.

Yours truly,

Coily
